The former Brazilian leader has been arrested after authorities determined he posed a concrete flight risk while under domestic detention.

The ex-president was convicted of plotting a military coup in last fall and given more than over two decades in prison, but he continued under confinement pending legal challenges.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the move to detain the 70-year-old politician was a safety action after fresh information were revealed.

This included attempting to break his electronic bracelet and a call for a supporters' gathering that could enable a chance to flee".

Court Filing Details Escape Risks

Context of Sentencing
